If you’ll let me, please let me go into proper hyperbole over something sports related:
“There is no odor so bad as that which arises from goodness tainted”
-Henry David Thoreau
Thus one of my ten favorite players in the league goes to my least favorite team. You have failed us, Chris. You….you were the chosen one. The chosen one to bring balance to the force (the Knicks). It was said that you would destroy the Black Mamba, not join him! You were to bring balance back to the NBA and restore one of the great franchises, not leave it STAT & Melo. Now, I must learn to hate you and all that you stand for. May god have mercy on your soul.
Quick thoughts on the biggest trade in the NBA since the Celtics Big 3:
- Poor Khlomar. Does this mean that there’s gonna be another Kardashian spin-off set in New Orleans? If so, then end of the world….come soon
- The Lakers keep taking advantage of idiotic GMs. They did it to land Gasol and now this. I’m blaming this on the fact that the league owns the Hornets. The Hornets get absolutely nobody of worth in return for the franchise’s best player ever. They get Khlomar (an adequate but old player with a ton of mileage on him), an o.k power forward in Scola, a guard who shoots a lot and plays no defense (K-Mart) and another guard who is a homeless man’s Steve Nash (Goran Dragic, who plays worse defense than K-Mart). There had to have been a better trade available. Also, since the league is trying to sell the Hornets to a prospective owner, it’s always smart to sell away your best player for absolutely nothing in return. That’s just good business.
- The Lakers only truly win this deal IF they land Dwight Howard next summer. Otherwise, this is a very risky proposition for them. You just traded away a healthy, super skilled Center (Gasol) and one of your most consistent role players (Odom) for a guy who isn’t the best picture of health. Throw in the fact that you just blasted your depth at big men and now have to rely on young Andrew Bynum who is super talented but kind of a dumbass and has the knees of a 60 year old man. If you don’t get Howard, Chris Paul gets 1-2 years with Kobe and then a roster of shit.
- I like the Rockets here. They traded away a good Power forward and a scorer (and homeless Steve Nash) for a great power forward. Gasol will be able to help a young, very foreign team with some talent that still needs developing.
- I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I hate what’s happening here. Another talented player leaving his team and going to one of the big 4 markets. Thank god for the Thunder. I hope something changes. I really don’t want to see just the Lakers, Heat, Knicks, Nets (maybe?) and Bulls in the finals every year.
